Megan McMahon
Welcome
A Little About Myself...

Hello! My name is Megan McMahon, and I am in the Concurrent Education collaborative program at the University of Windsor and St. Clair College. I am currently working towards obtaining my B.Ed., B.A., and ECE diploma. As I continue on my educational journey, I reflect back on my years of yearning to be an educator. I am now actively pursuing my goal and collecting valuable and practical knowledge along the way. My goal as a future educator is to create an accepting environment that fosters creativity and self-expression in each child. I believe every child is a unique individual who has valuable knowledge to share. I look forward to being able to unlock their potential as I grow in my experience.
Contents of the Portfolio
Within my teacher candidate portfolio, I have included various documentation that demonstrates my current progress in the B.Ed. program thus far. My teaching philosophy encapsulates my current values and beliefs regarding how I intend to teach. Through an active learning and real-world application approach full of care, my philosophy details the importance of allowing students to explore their interests and feel safe in the classroom. My standards of practice in correspondence with my meaningful artifacts provide insight as to how I am currently demonstrating what the OCT standards of practice mean to my teaching. My attached artifacts provide a diverse array of evidence as to how I am currently working on implementing each standard of practice in my own educational journey. Examples include reflections, co-creating learning goals with students, certifications regarding leadership, and evaluations. These artifacts have been carefully selected to demonstrate my progress thus far. My Professional Learning Series (PLS) reflection provides an insightful reflection on the highly informational workshops and presentations I have attended during my time at the Faculty of Education. These workshops have allowed me to continually practice reflexive teaching and required me to examine my purpose and current beliefs about my intention with this profession. My Professional Growth Plan includes goals I have to continue in my professional development. It also encompasses my intended strategies to attain these goals and is compiled with evidence that demonstrates my current progress to achieve these goals. Additionally, included in this portfolio are my resume, my educational references, additional certifications, and my educational evaluations. My evaluations for my three practicums thus far are further proof of my hard work and dedication to implementing my teaching beliefs in a real-world context. All the elements I have incorporated in my portfolio demonstrate my further work and outside acknowledgment of the educational experience that I have currently completed.
